No Schiff opposes the healthcare bill, there should be no government involvement in healthcare. Consider Medicare, it is a disaster. Consider lasik, a procedure not covered by most insurance. Consumers have shopped for affordable lasik, and the price has become affordable as a result. Schiff would have people pay out of pocket for most medical treatments, and reserve insurance for catastrophic events and accidents.
No Chris Dodd had an exemption in the healthcare bill specifically for members of congress. Simmons would not allow for such exemptions. Simmons does not support government takeover of healthcare. Simmons would not vote for anything without reading it.
McMahon believes the majority want reform. Obamacare is no good. Methods to take costs out are Tort reform, reducing malpractice costs and enable purchase of insurance across state lines.
Stop incentivized employer based insurance. This intervenes with consumers acting in the market place and providing a control against costs.
Simmons wants to keep good insurance jobs in Connecticut. Our job is to let the industry fix itself. Supports the creation of Association Health Plans for small business.
Free market solutions are the only proven method of reducing costs. The government hurts the free market. Schiff would stand for removing regulations and Subsidies
